Flexible Wireless Solutions for Industrial Process Control
Flexibility means more choice
As more and more process control-based industries adopt wireless automation technology, they are realizing they require more than the one-size-fits-all approach offered by other vendors. To take full advantage of wireless capabilities, they require the flexibility delivered by Honeywell’s OneWireless™ solution. OneWireless can be tailored to offer the coverage needed for any industrial process control application, from a simple wireless field instrument mesh to a completely integrated, plant-wide multi-application wireless mesh network.
FACT
The OneWireless system includes over 30 Honeywell products, and allows integration and interoperability with hundreds of products from other vendors.
The obvious advantage of wireless is the savings that can be realized in installation and maintenance—wireless installation typically costs 50 to 90 percent less than wired. But more and more, users want to go beyond a simple device network. With OneWireless, you have the flexibility to easily create a wireless sensor mesh encompassing your field monitoring and maintenance applications, and then later expand to a process control network that includes wireless voice communication, cameras, security protocols, and more.

Totally scalable
Industrial wireless isn't just about data acquisition and control; it's also about ensuring an effective solution for mobile computing, asset management, physical and cyber security, and health and safety. While some users currently employ wireless for plant monitoring only, as the technology evolves and improves they will undoubtedly look to expand their wireless networks into these other areas. The OneWireless™ platform was designed to support a complete plant wireless infrastructure including not only wireless field instruments, but also wireless mobile operator stations, employee tracking devices and voice communications—all of which can be added onto the single network.
FACT
Honeywell’s OneWireless is designed to easily integrate components from multiple vendors, and has a network architecture that combines multiple frequencies, bandwidths and protocols.
What’s more, Honeywell continues to study industry trends in order to continue improving the automation products and process control solutions we offer. For example, our versatile Wi-Fi capability allows users to employ various instruments not currently operating in the ISA100 or WirelessHART realm. To take advantage of the multitude of vendor offerings currently in the marketplace, OneWireless supports multiple communication protocols and thousands of field devices on a single monitoring and control network, thus enabling users to improve overall plant safety, reliability, and efficiency as they gradually scale their wireless networks.

Never rip and replace
As we all know from the telecommunications and home entertainment industries, technological evolution naturally renders certain devices and systems obsolete. Honeywell is anticipating and working to counteract this obsolescence. OneWireless™ accommodates different protocols which include ISA 100.11a with technologies such as protocol mapping, basic tunneling and smart tunneling, so any device can connect to any host efficiently and effectively. That connectivity protects your current investment in application hosts and devices.
FACT
From field instrument meshing to a plant-wide infrastructure supporting multiple applications, OneWireless™ flexibility means never sacrificing your investment as you scale the system.
OneWireless™ was built from the ground up to support the ISA100.11a standard, which ensures your wireless investment by providing the infrastructure to enable an open and interoperable application environment.
